With spectacular views of the bay and the volcanoes on the distant mainland, Casa Cayuco provides a perfect, remote jungle experience on the ocean´s edge.

Nestled among the coconut palms on the picturesque white sand beach of Punta Vieja, this all-inclusive ecolodge is a 45-minute boat ride from Bocas town, adjacent to Bastimentos National Marine Park. The three-storey post and beam lodge was built to closely resemble a tree house, along with five elegant and spacious cabins for guests to enjoy. All meals are served family-style in the open-air dining room.

You can swim right off the white sand beach to a pristine coral reef with abundant sea life, or hang in a hammock under the roof of the dock - a wonderful spot for some quiet reading or watching the pelicans feed. Sustainability

In an effort to produce minimal impact on the surrounding environment, Casa Cayuco uses solar panels that are mounted on the main lodge and the cabin roofs to generate electricity from the sun. The power is utilized by the numerous high-efficiency ceiling fans, compact fluorescentand LED lighting, water pumps, computer, stereo and a very small blender in the bar. The refrigerator and freezer are also solar powered.

Water conservation is a priority at Casa Cayuco. The roofs of the lodge are used for water catchment and the rain water is then filtered for guest use. Drinking water is filtered for sediment, and then triple filtered, so there is no need for chlorine.

Casa Cayuco was originally designed to serve the needs of experiential learning. Student and family groups at Casa Cayuco have been involved in helping in the local school, teaching English to villagers, constructing a community house, and other building work.
