Community-run Organizations
Several of the native Ngobe and Naso communities of Bocas del Toro have chosen to welcome vsitors into their villages, with rustic cabanas built from natural materials in the traditional style.
Some locations have solar power, others lack running water, but they all conatin a wealth of stories and local knowledge which the residents are willing to share with any traveler adventurous enough to venture out to these villages.
Food is usually organic, seasonal and harvested locally, and by staying with one of these community-run organizations, not only will you have unique, memorable experience, but you will be supporting the residents and encouraging them to preserve both their cultural traditions and their exquisite natural environment.
