Al Natural Resort

Al Natural Resort is situated on a small, secluded beach close to the natural wonders of Bastimentos National Marine Park, and elegantly combines the ancestral craftsmanship of the Ngöbe-Buglé with new technologies that allow us to harvest energy from the sun and limit our impact on the ecosystem.

In order to provide each guest with maximum privacy, it is our goal to maintain an intimate scale for the resort; there are only seven beach bungalows and each is unique. Two are connected by a little bridge, one has a tree in the bathroom and the balconies offer exceptional views.

Our friendly team offers a comfortable level of personalized services. Gourmet meals prepared with fresh local products are served in our new two-storey restaurant.

We will have a representative at Bocas airport to welcome you and to take you to the Al Natural Bocas Landing in Bocas town from where we will take you by boat  to the Resort, a 45-minute scenic boat ride through Bastimentos National Marine Park.

Sustainability

Al Natural Resort was designed to exist in harmony with the surrounding landscape, ecology, and local buildings. This “Natural Architecture” blends ancestral Ngöbe-Buglé construction with sustainable, low-impact modern technologies.

The resort was built by native people from  nearby villages who were able to implement their knowledge of traditional Ngöbe construction.

The wood used in the structures and furniture is from nearby lowland forest, and preserved with non-toxic treatments.

Our remote location means that solar power is both a sustainable and a practical energy source, as is the collection of rainwater for our guests’ use.

The ceramic work found in each bathroom is made by a talented local artist, and the majority of staff are local villagers.

Crafts such as woven chacara bags are on display and for purchase. We support community-based tourism in nearby Salt Creek, incorporating the village in our tours and promoting them to our guests.

Activities

There are many activities you can do by yourself at Al Natural free of charge. The beach in front of the bungalows is great to stroll or play racket ball and to find a perfect spot for sunbathing.

Escape the tropical heat by swimming in the lagoon or snorkeling in the reefs just in front of your bungalow, or paddle  one of our kayaks along the beach or up one of the rivers bordered by thick mangroves harboring all kind of wildlife.

Many animals can be spotted near your cabin, such as night and capuchin monkeys, Jesus Christ lizards, sloth, caimans and many birds.

Our nature trails lead across the point to the open sea, and wilder beaches more exposed to the waves.

Our new canopy observation tower is great for birding, and our well-stocked games room can double up as a tranquil yoga studio.

Snorkeling tours

Explore the idyllic white sand beaches and vibrant reefs of nearby Zapatillas Cays in Bastimentos National Marine Park, or the colorful soft coral garden near Coral Cay.

Price per Person: From $20-$30 for Coral Cay, and from $25-$45 for Zapatillas, depending on the number of participants. Children receive a 50% discount.

Mangrove River Tour and visit to the Ngöbe Village of Salt Creek

Travel in a cayuco, the local dug-out canoe, along the rivers of Bastimentos Island to discover a pristine mangrove forest, the village of Salt Creek and a nature trail.

Price per Person: $20 - $25, depending on the number of people. Children receive a 50% discount

Trekking Bastimentos National Marine Park

Choose from a variety of treks across Bastimentos Island with a local guide. Starting from either Old Bank, Red Frog Beach or Long Beach, hike along the windward beaches and through the rain forest to the village of Salt Creek, where a boat will be waiting to take you back to Al Natural.

Walks last three to six hours, depending on the starting point.

Price per person: From $30 to $50 depending on the duration and the number of participants. Children receive a 50% discount.

Boat tour to Dolphin Bay

Take a trip to see a sparkling bay full of playful bottlenose dolphins, a then get up close to some more colorful marine life with a snorkeling stop at nearby Coral Cay.

Price per person: From $30 to $50, depending on the number of passengers. Children receive a 50% discount.

Isla Bastimentos Boat Tours

Boat excursions to Red Frog Beach, Long Beach or the town of Old Bank, which is a short walk from Wizard Beach.

Price per person: From $25 to $45 depending on the tour and number of participants. Children receive a 50% discount.

Fishing at Al Natural

Join us as we go trolling in our spacious motor boat for groupers, barracudas, king fishes, returning in time for a magnificent sunset. We will provide all the equipment and tackle.

Price per Person: $80 for one person, or $60 for two.
