Traditional Naso Rafts

Canoe rides along the Changuinola and Teribe River as well as a jungle hike offer the chance to spot wildlife such as sloths, toucans and iguanas. You will have the chance to observe traditional Naso dances, purchase unique handicrafts, and enjoy the locally grown food prepared by your hosts – as well as a trip to the organic farm where these native crops are harvested.

Give something back by planting a tree as part of the reforestation project, and return to Changuinola on an exhilarating ride on a traditional balsa - a small wooden raft.

You will stay at the rustic Soposo Lodge, built in traditional style, and are invited to share stories and learn a few words of the local language over dinner with your host family.

Highlights

  • The possibility of spotting sloths, toucans or huge green iguanas in the trees along the river banks
  • A traditional Naso meal, prepared with locally-grown ingredients
  • Spending the night in a remote cabin while the trees fill with fireflies
  • A thrilling ride down river on a traditional balsa raft - can you keep your balance?
  • Learning how the Naso still employ the plants of the jungle to treat pain and sickness
