Dolphin Bay, Coral Cay and Islas Zapatillas – Full Day Tour

0.0/5 rating (0 votes)

This tour combines some of Bocas del Toro’s most stunning sights – leaping dolphins, far-flung desert islands and  coral reefs, in a day tour that takes you across the archipelago.

We will take the half hour boat ride to Dolphin Bay in the morning, when the 30 or so dolphins which live here are at their most lively. We will then sail through a labyrinth of mangroves to Coral Cay to order lunch. There is plenty of time to snorkel in the warm waters of the surrounding coral reef while your lunch is being prepared.

After lunch, we will cross the open turquoise ocean to the two tiny Zapatillas Islands which form part of the protected Bastimentos National Marine Park, and are the nesting site for endangered sea turtles. You can walk round the island in less than half an hour and feel like a real castaway, before relaxing on the gorgeous white sand beaches surrounded by lush jungle, or splashing about in the waves.

Highlights:

  • Seeing groups of bottlenose dolphins playing in front of your boat
  • Snorkeling alongside angel fish, parrot fish and vividly colored urchins at Coral Cay. You may even spot a barracuda!
  • Strolling round the remote Zapatilla Island – totally uninhabited except for the sea turtle nests!
  • Relaxing on the pristine beach of Zapatilla, unspoiled by buildings or roads
