This half day tour takes you up close to some of the Caribbean Sea’s most dramatic wildlife
Playa Bluff
| Location: | Isla Colón |
Seven kilometers north of Bocas town, Playa Bluff is a rugged and frequently deserted beach on Isla Colón. Playa Bluff’s waves often make for a rough swim, but the beach is popular among surfers. Be careful though - the waves tend to break in very shallow water, making it a dangerous spot for amateurs. Depending on the time of year, it may be possible to arrange a night visit to the beach to watch huge, endangered sea turtles laying their eggs, or the tiny hatchlings emerging and scurrying down to the sea. From Bocas town, a return taxi will cost about $20-$30 – be sure to arrange a time to be picked up or you could face a long walk back! The bike ride takes around an hour and can get muddy.
