As you sail through the mangroves to the community of San Cristóbal, your boat will be greeted by wide-eyed Ngöbe children, excited to lead the visitors up to their village. This community of around 800 people sprawls down a hillside, with gorgeous views of the surrounding islands across the bay
Just a 30 minute boat ride from Bocas town, you will feel like you have traveled much further, as the villagers share with you the secrets of their forest – from the preparation of fibers and dyes used to make traditional chacara bags, to the plant extracts still used to treat infections and cure illness.
