This half day tour takes you up close to some of the Caribbean Sea’s most dramatic wildlife
Weckso
| Location: | La Amistad National Park |
This community is home to the king of the Naso – the only monarch in the Western hemisphere. Found deep in the jungle of La Amistad International Peace Park, the community of Weckso is two hours up the Teribe River from Changuinola, and is home to some of the remaining 3,500 Naso. They still travel by balsas – tiny individual rafts paddled with poles along the fast-flowing river.
Visitors will enjoy a tour of the village, including a trip to the school, Naso songs and dances around a jaguar skull, and an explanation of the local crafts, including traditional spears, and bows and arrows.
