This half day tour takes you up close to some of the Caribbean Sea’s most dramatic wildlife
Strawberry Poison-Dart Frog
These striking amphibians have evolved colors from bright red to yellow, lime green, blue, and even white, thanks to their isolation on each island and the mainland.
One of their most endearing traits is the attention they pay to their young. The mother lays three to five eggs in a pool of water on a leaf, which the father carefully keeps hydrated. Once the eggs hatch, the mother transports the tadpoles on her back to a small, contained source of water – such as a pool formed in a tree branch. Leaving one tadpole in each place, she returns regularly to lay unfertilized eggs to feed the tadpoles, until they transform into tiny frogs and hop away.
