This half day tour takes you up close to some of the Caribbean Sea’s most dramatic wildlife
Green Iguanas
Found in the forests of Bocas del Toro, these large reptiles can often be seen sunning themselves in the branches in the mornings.
Growing 1.5 meters in length, the iguanas have developed a variety of ways to protect themselves against predators, including spines that grow along their backs, and striking out powerfully with their long tails. These tails can also be voluntarily snapped off if caught, allowing the iguana to escape. Another curious feature is the iguana's “third eye” on top of its head – which does not see, but can detect changes in light and dark – useful for avoiding predators approaching from above.
