The Bocas Sustainable Tourism Alliance (BSTA) seeks to promote another form of tourism: tourism that enhances the culture and environmental assets of Bocas del Toro. The BTSA will launch a Sustainable Tourism Information Center on Colon island this July and is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to help lead this initiative.
The role of the BSTA Coordinator will include the following responsibilities:
• Promote the Bocas Sustainable Tourism Alliance at the local, national and regional level;
• Serve as the point of contact for the Board of Directors and assist to carry out activities decided upon by the Board;
• Manage the Sustainable Tourism Information Centre
• Promote the membership program among tourism stakeholders and businesses;
• Maintain communications with members through newsletters, meetings, etc.
• Ensure the collection of both membership fees and commissions;
• Promote tours and activities that enhances the culture and nature of Bocas del Toro
• Manage the order and sales of local products as well as branded merchandise;
• Manage and update the BTSA website portal www.discoverbocasdeltoro.com;
• Collaborate with the local tourism stakeholders to organize events aimed at promoting the local culture and environmental assets of the destination;
• Identify and develop grant proposals for the development and promotion of sustainable tourism activities in the archipelago; and
• Draft periodic and annual reports and presentations detailing the achievements of the DMC.
Required Skills: Candidates should be personable, organized, committed to sustainable tourism in Bocas del Toro. Able to communicate with a variety of people. Must be fluent in both Spanish and English; Previous experience in tourism or in conservation is required, as well the ability to successfully manage many priorities. Ability to work on a flexible schedule is a plus. At least 5 years of working experience.. Computer and Internet savvy.
Salary: Commensurate according to previous experience
